MONTGOMERY WILDCATS – SUNDAY 10/28 GAMES MONTY MITEY-MITES The Montgomery Wildcats Mitey-Mites won their final game of the year with a hard fought defensive win over the Phillipsburg Colts. The final score was 6-2 where the Wildcats made a defensive stand with Philipsburg taking over on offense inside the Wildcats 30 yard line with a minute remaining. The first quarter was a defensive battle with the no scoring. There was some very strong defensive play by Dan Mayo, Jake DeMato, Wyatt Colangelo , Anthony Lopresti, Bill O’Leary and Michael Patrizio. On the offensive side of the ball, Matthew Stagnitta had a good game at QB with some solid blocking by Mitchell Chuganov, Jared Reinson, Noah Golestani, Liam Fitzgerald and Kyle Dudek. The Wildcats scored early in the 2nd quarter with a 25 yard touchdown pass by Joey DeMato to Brandon Szigeti. This was one of several catches by the Jake DeMato-Brandon Szigeti duo. The extra point was no good giving the Wildcats a 6-0 lead at halftime. On this drive, there was solid blocking by Matthew Sloan, Dante Musto, Ryan Cashman and Kyle Marrapodi. In the 2nd half the Wildcats and the Colts played a scoreless half other than a late safety by the Colts. There was some excellent blocking on the offensive side of the ball by Arthur Sokoloff, Connor Duwan, Austin Kelley and Shawn Terlaje. This blocking allowed the offense to keep control of the clock and have good field position throughout the 2nd half. The Wildcats had some strong defensive stops throughout the the 2nd half from Taylor Gatt, Joseph Mercurio, Gavin Sudano and Kevin McLester. There also was some strong special team play by Jack Winge and Zachary Masessa. Some other exceptional play was contributed by Paul Tedeschi, Michael Remson, and Brendan Tscherne. MONTY GREEN FLAG The Montgomery Wildcats Green team hosted Phillipsburg on Sunday in the season finale. The Wildcats played stellar on defense throughout the first half, allowing only one touchdown. Evan Goldsmith and Lucas Kopecky made big plays, batting down attempted passes by Phillipsburg, and Gavin Kirk recovered a fumble which set up the offense for a scoring drive. Christian Binford had a huge run for 40 yards, and Tyler Internoscia capped the drive with a 4 yard touchdown run. The Wildcats battled in the second half with a power running game. Ryan Tollefsen scored on a 5 yard touchdown after a 43 yard scamper by Will Griesinger. Griesinger, who lost a tooth on the previous series said, “I had to ignore the blood and pain and lead the team down the field”. Other Wildcats contributing in the rushing attack were Michael Milano (1 carry for 15 yards), Danny Boyer (2 carries for 13 yards), Ryan Furey (2 carries for 12 yards), Shane Ajamian (3 carries for 17 yards), Jack Helberg (1 carry for 9 yards), and Lee Poirier (1 carry for 11 yards). |
