MONTGOMERY WILDCATS – SUNDAY 9/16 GAMES MONTGOMERY MIDGETS The Montgomery Wildcats Midgets faced a tough opponent in the Flemington Falcons. The Wildcats were led this week by captains Billy Eldridge and Jake Lipowski, and co-captains Frankie Aguilar and Alec Mikrut. The Falcons scored on their first two offensive possessions of the game. Despite some good tackling by Doug Warren, Kevin Hendrickson, Chris Frezza and Michael Murphy during the second quarter, the Falcons led 20-0 at the half. During the second half, the Wildcats were able to slow the Falcons momentum with fumble recoveries by Lipowski and Mikrut that stopped Falcon drives. In the last offensive series of the game, the Wildcats started to move the ball downfield with some strong running by Aguilar and Lipowski, and a nice pass play with Michael Murphy connecting with Thomas Smith for a ten yard gain. Unfortunately, the Wildcats turned the ball over on an interception. The Falcons ended up defeating the Wildcats 27-0. MONTY JR. MIDGETS The Montgomery Junior Midgets suffered their second setback of the year after a 20–6 loss to Flemington. The game was tied at 6-6 until the final minutes of the fourth quarter when Flemington scored on a couple of broken plays. The Wildcats lone touchdown came on a quarterback sneak by Ryan Boyle behind the blocking of Ari Gutman. In addition the running attack was lead by Josh Reinson, David Bergida and Brian Mayer. The Junior Midgets offense anchored by Louis Colonna, Jake Colangelo, Robert King, Nick Mertz and Hanson Koota did a terrific job of moving the ball up and down the field. Montgomery’s defense saw terrific play from Nico Sferra, Brian Mayer, Owen Tollefsen and Erik Witten with Arie Gutman making or assiting on tackles all over the field.” MONTY PEE WEES The Montgomery Wildcat Pee Wees lost to the Flemington Falcons 20-6. The
first half defensive struggle was capped by an impressive defensive stand by the
Wildcats who stopped the Falcons drive at the 10 yard line. The Wildcats trailed
7-0 at the half.
The Montgomery Jr. Pee Wees came from behind to tie the Flemington Falcons 7-7 this past Sunday at Montgomery High School Stadium. The game was scoreless at half time due to tough defensive play by both squads. In the first half, the Wildcats held Flemington to one first down rushing behind great defensive line play by Evan Tracey, Jake Bobal, Matt Spallucci, Kyle McLester, Ryan Murphy, Andrew Bowman and Sean Curry. Outside Linebackers Chris Chugunov and Devon Meadows consistently stuffed the Falcons sweeps for losses and sacks. The Falcons scored in the third quarter to take the lead 7-0. The Wildcats offense came alive on third down when Quarterback Joey DiTorrice connected on a 60 yard touchdown pass to Devon Meadows to make the score 7-6. After a great fake sweep by running back Greg Shiffner, DiTorrice scored on a bootleg around the left end for the extra point to tie the score 7-7. Offensive lineman Frankie Wendling, Brett Ajamian, Anthony Sempervive, Mike Remsen, and Running Back Matt Herman help execute the come from behind scoring. Late in the fourth quarter, another pass play for 30 yards from DiTorrice to Meadows moved the ball into Flemington Territory. DiTorrice completed 3 of 5 passes for 90 yards against the Falcons. Mike Decker had a key interception and Patrick Fritzinger knocked down a 4th down pass play to stop Falcon drives in the second half. Evan Tracey, Devon Meadows and Chris Chugunov all recorded 4 or more solo tackles for the Wildcats. Defensive end Matt Spallucci recorded a key QB sack in the fourth quarter which shut down one of the last Falcon drives of the game. MONTY MITEY-MITES The Montgomery Wildcats Mitey Mites faced off with the Flemington Falcons and were defeated by the final score of 14-7. The defense was led by Wyatt Colangelo, Jake DeMato, Mitchell Chugunov, Jared Reinson, Brandon Szigeti and Kevim McLester. Two big running plays made the difference for the Falcons. The Wildcat offense was led by strong blocking up front, Austin Kelly, Liam Fitzgerald, Gavin Sudano, Anthony Lopresti, Arthur Sokoloff, Kyle Marrapodi. The offensive attack was led by Matt Stagnitta and Joey DeMato which resulted in a touchdown run for Daniel Mayo and the extra point run by Zach Masessa. MONTY YELLOW FLAG The Montgomery Yellow Flag team played a strong home opener against the Flemington Falcons and garnered another victory. First half touchdown runs by Will Marrapodi, Reese Clarke and Mack Bloom were highlighted by strong downfield blocking and aggressive running. Rookie Cole Sudano showed his speed with a long run up the middle. Quarterback Mack Bloom and center turned receiver Christian Boyle executed a great screen for the Yellow Team's first completed pass of the season. ON the defensive front the Yellow team was consistently in the Falcons back field stopping multiple runs for losses. When the Falcons were able to swing the ball wide linebackers Reese Clarke, Cole Sudano and Anthony Dittorice were there for the stop. In the second half the Falcons defense stiffened but still Will Marrapodi and Mack Bloom were each able to break long touchdown runs. The game ended in a decisive win for the Wildcats. |
