MONTGOMERY WILDCATS – SUNDAY 9/9 GAMES

MONTGOMERY MIDGETS

The Montgomery Wildcats Midgets lost to the Bridgewater Raritan Panthers, 26-0. The Wildcats started the game with a deep kickoff by Billy Eldridge, that was followed up with some good tackling by David Mullin and Mark Flood, stopping the Panther kick return man deep in Panther territory. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were not able to stop the Panthers on their first drive of the game, and trailed 8-0 with about 5 minutes left in the quarter. The Panthers then scored again quickly, but this time their extra point attempt was blocked by the strong rush of Jake Lipowski. Lipowski also blocked another extra point attempt later during the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Franky Aguilar and Billy Eldridge were able to successfully move the ball downfield on the Panthers, but did not score any points. Some good defensive play by Alec Mikrut, Brian Papsin, Billy Eldridge, Thomas Smith, Andrew Jones and Jake Lipowski kept the Panthers out of the end zone during the second quarter. The Wildcats trailed 20-0 at the end of the first half.

Franky Aguilar started the second half by fielding a deep kickoff, and advancing the ball to the Wildcats 30 yard line. The Wildcats put together a series of good offensive plays during the first drive of the second half, led by the running of Aguilar and Eldridge, but eventually had to punt the ball away, pinning the Panthers deep in their own territory. The Wildcats kept the Panthers out of the End zone until the middle of the fourth quarter, thanks to continued strong defensive plays by Flood, Papsin, Aguilar, Lipowski and Eldridge. The Wildcats gave up the final 6 points midway through the fourth quarter, but a strong defensive surge kept the Panthers from scoring the extra point, after a penalty pushed the Panthers back out of kicking range.

MONTY JR. MIDGETS

The Montgomery Wildcats Junior Midgets had a tough outing against a solid Bridgewater Raritan Panther team. Although the team suffered their first loss of the season they were led with strong defensive play by Owen Tollefsen with his touchdown saving tackle at the 3 yard line. In addition Brian Mayer, Zach Slotkin, Arie Gutman, Louis Colonna and Eric Witten each contributed with a strong effort.

The offense was setback after a 40 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Boyle to David Bergida was called back do to an illegal motion penalty. The boys continued to persevere with strong running by Josh Reinson, Brian Mayer and Kevin Johnson.

MONTY PEE WEES

The Montgomery Wildcats Pee Wees suffered a 29-8 defeat to the Bridgewater Raritan Panthers. After a fumble recovery by CJ Gatt, the Pee Wees capitalized on a well executed 62 yard pass from Austin James to Wade Baldwin. Baldwin evaded two tacklers and raced to the end zone. The extra point kick was converted by Baldwin. The Pee Wees went to half time leading Bridgewater 8 to 6. The Montgomery defense was lead by Jonathon Gulardo, who had 13 tackles. Baldwin and Gatt were also key defensive players.

MONTY JR. PEE WEE

The Montgomery Wildcats Junior Pee Wees fell to the Bridgewater Raritan Panthers 19-0 this past Sunday. A tough defense by Bridgewater stopped Wildcat offensive drives in the first half. The blocking attack was lead by Kyle McLester, Evan Tracey, Anthony Sempervive, Mike Decker and Jake Bobal. Halfbacks Greg Shiffner and Patrick Fritzinger carried the ball for the Wildcats in the backfield. Quarterback Chris Chugunov completed a pass across the middle to Fullback Joey DiTorrice for longest gain of the day.

The Montgomery Defensive held Bridgewater scoreless in the second half due to an excellent defensive performance by Defensive Tackle Kyle McLester. McLester repeatedly penetrated the Panther offensive line causing havoc in the Bridgewater backfield. Sean Curry, Andrew Bowman, Matt Herman, and Ryan Murphy added to the second half stalemate stopping the Panthers running game. McLester and DiTorrice were the leading tacklers for the Wildcats.

MONTY YELLOW FLAG

The Montgomery Wildcats Yellow Flag team tied the Bridgewater Raritan Panthers 21-21. Montgomery established themselves early with a touchdown run on the 1st play from scrimmage by Mack Bloom. The offense continued to fire on all cylinders with a quarterback keeper for 10 yards by Christian Boyle followed by another strong run by Christopher Duwan. Quarterback Bailin Pollard handed-off to Mack Bloom for his second touchdown of the half. Will Marrapodi carried the ball up the middle fro 20 yards following the lead block of Christopher Duwan. Reese Clarke showed his mettle gaining a few tough yards against a the stiffening Panther defense. Mack Bloom finished his strong first half with his 3rd touchdown run.

On the defensive side of the ball the Cougars held the Panthers to 2 first half touchdowns. Christian Boyle, Bailin Pollard and Nick Kimmick all made key stops. Michael Patron made a strong tackle after an aggressive pursuit of the ball carrier. The half finished with a touchdown saving tackle by linebacker Reese Clarke.

In the second half the Yellow Flag team was able to move the ball up the field, but unable to score any further points. Will Marrapodi had a number of long runs following the lead blocks of Christian Boyle and Bailin Pollard. A constantly shifting offensive line including, Shane Ajamian, Reese Clark, Michael Patron, Christopher Duwan and Bailin Pollard, opened holes for a number runs by Mack Bloom. A late game reverse run by Bridgewater looked be the game breaker, but right linebacker Anthony Detorrice stayed home and made the tackle.
