Jackson & Perkins is a full service nursery offering all kinds of flowers, trees, shrubs, ground coverings, bulbs, decorative garden gifts, tools, garden accessories, plant care products and roses. The company's mail order business resulted from a garden exhibit Jackson & Perkins set up at the 1939 World's Fair in New York entitled A Parade of Modern Roses. New roses offer easier planting due to more pliable roots that need smaller holes and suffer less transplant shock. Roses like a good, deep soak to promote deep rooting and they will actually develop drought tolerance if established this way. Most modern roses, even some heirloom varieties, will bloom all summer if properly groomed.
