| Thomas Rosheter, of Princeton Avenue, raised
concerns about the traffic calming measures. At Washington Street and
Princeton Avenue, at Montgomery Avenue and Washington Street and at Merritt
Lane and Washington Street it is still difficult for pedestrians to cross
the street. Council agreed there are some issues to be resolved and will
raise these with the County.
Ted Merritt, of the Merritt Insurance Agency, reviewed the Borough’s
insurance coverage. The Borough Hall is insured for $609,000 for building
replacement costs, with an additional $22,000 for its contents. Coverage for
the water tower is $303,000; the pump house building $58,000; and the air
stripping towers $165,000. The Borough carries liability insurance of
$1,000,000, with an additional $15,000,000 umbrella policy. Mr. Merritt was
asked to find out the cost of a $25,000,000 umbrella policy.
Councilman Merritt reported on plans for recreational facilities for the
Schafer Tract. The phase one plan includes two softball fields, two
multipurpose fields, basketball courts and a pavilion, as well as site
preparation and landscaping, for a total of $2.9 million. Montgomery is to
pay 80% and Rocky Hill 20%. Council had anticipated paying around $200,000
for our share and is not happy with the proposed plans and costs.
Ordinances 1-02 and 2-02, concerning water mains and road reconstruction
on Lemore Circle, were passed. |
