3/19/01 Borough Council Meeting Minutes
Jeanette Muser presented information about the Millstone River Valley Scenic Corridor, a Department of Transportation scenic byway program, which would entitle participating municipalities to receive federal grant funds for safety improvements and preservation. Council sent a letter of support.

Borough Engineer David Staph announced that there are two grants totaling $252,000 available to fund the reconstruction of Merritt and Toth Lanes. Larry Merk, Water Superintendent, told Mr. Staph that the water main should be replaced. There was discussion about whether it would be more cost effective to repair occasional breaks than to replace it. A decision will be made at the next meeting.

Many years ago concrete was dumped in back of the Fire Department parking lot. According to the Engineer, if this material is removed, the fence and a portion of the parking lot will fall off. It was decided to remove only a portion of the concrete.

Representatives of ARC of Somerset County presented final plans of the proposed group home on Young Drive. They expressed their willingness to work with Knoll Way residents to provide additional landscaping, off-site if necessary, to make up for trees which will have to be removed.. A Knoll Way resident expressed concerns about parking and the ARC representatives agreed to consider signs in the future if this does become a problem.

Groundbreaking will take place soon. Representatives of the Rocky Hill Nursery School discussed various options for installing air conditioning. The Borough will pay for electrical work and had wanted the school to pay $2,000 for the air conditioning unit. Paying this sum at present would present a financial hardship to the school, and school representatives explained that recent in- creases in rent had contributed to financial difficulties for the school. After discussion, it was agreed that the school would pay an initial sum of $500 and then pay $50 additional rent per month until the end of the lease.

Six tickets were issued for failure to remove snow in February.
