PLANNING BOARD 8/8/00

Absent: Bristol, Harris, Yuchmow

Debbie Cooper, a member of Board Attorney Gerald Mul-ler’s office, will be the new Planning Board Secretary.

The Master Plan Amendment of the Housing Element and Fair Share Plan was presented. During public comments, resi-dents of Knoll Way expressed concerns about the impact of a second ARC group home on their privately maintained street in terms of construction and visitors traffic. The Board explained that it was trying to avoid a builder being allowed to provide the required affordable housing units as part of a major development. The residents asked whether the second ARC house could be built on Borough land behind the municipal building, now the site of the tennis courts. The amendment was changed to allow the option of building near the water tower or on the courts and it passed unanimously.

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

Ebe Metcalf and Molly Pope were married in Portland, Oregon on June 24th . Ebe is the son of Nancy and Ed Metcalf of Toth Lane.

Carl Robbins, a third generation resident of Rocky Hill, celebrated his 80th birthday on August 1st . Carl’s father and his grandfather, Augustus, were as well-known in town as Carl is for their contributions to making our village a fine place to live! Congratulations!

MARY JACOBS LIBRARY

The Summer Reading Program is over, after a most suc-cessful summer. Close to 750 children signed up, so there was a lot of reading done. It was a great program. The children and young adult librarians worked very hard to make this a huge suc-cess. The volunteers and other helpers made things go a lot eas-ier.

NOTE

Copies of the minutes of Council meetings are available Thursdays from 9 to 11 AM at Borough Hall.

Sidewalks should be kept clear of debris and bushes and tree limbs should not interfere with walkers or cars. Uneven or dete-riorated sidewalks should be reported to Council.
